About Denizli

Pamukkale, formerly known as Akköy, is a district located in the west of Turkey, affiliated with the province of Denizli. The name Akköy was changed to Pamukkale by Law No. 6360, adopted by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on November 12, 2012. Pamukkale is the largest district in Denizli in terms of population and consists of a total of 61 neighborhoods. The Pamukkale Hierapolis travertines, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, have been located in the Pamukkale district since 1988. Pamukkale, renowned for its many natural and historical beauties, is among the districts that have also been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
